Dear Friends and Media,

Greetings from COAST Foundation, CPRD,  CDP , AOSED,  BCJF, CSRL and
CANSA-BD . The above organizations are organizing a press conference
jointly, titled: “National Budget 2023-2024; Climate Financing”. We feel
honored to invite you to participate in that press Conference.* The event
will be held on 05 June 2023 [Monday] at 11.00 - 12.00 pm in the Conference
room [2 nd Floor] of the National Press Club in Dhaka.*

You are aware that the government has adopted important long-term climate
strategic plans like BCCSP- 2009, National Adaptation Plan 2050, Bangladesh
Delta Plan-2100, Mujib Climate Prosperity Plan 2022- 2030 and Nationally
Determined Contribution (NDC) to address the negative impacts of climate
change
at present and onward. All these plans are reflected in the 8th Five-Year
Plan and the Annual National Budget for implementation. We think government
policy initiatives are appreciable but the traditional annual climate
financing is insufficient to address the current and future risks as
experts opined. While climate finance requires a minimum allocation of 3%
of GDP per year, the government is allocating far behind which is less
than1% during last year. In the above context, we have organized the press
conference to highlight the above issues and sincerely request your kind
presence at the event. Your participation, insightful discussions and
valuable recommendations will strengthen the demand for climate financing
through the national budget.

We cordially invite you to assign one reporter and one photographer from
your esteemed media to cover the seminar and publish the news. Please find
